Put Sun Money Into Your PocketA step by step guide to installing your solar power system

If you are ready to start earning Sun Money, the first step is to select a solar installer. Solarline is a local solar installer that will assist you every step of the way.

Step 1: Determine the suitability of your home for a solar power system.

Solarline is able to determine the suitability of your home for a microFIT solar power system and provide you with a quote within 24 hours. No obligations. Your home or business can be viewed through Google Earth and a quote will be prepared based on your roofline, the roof dimensions and the direction your roof is facing – they don’t even have to visit your home!

Step 2: Submit an application and receive a conditional offer.

Put Sun Money Into Your PocketDue to delays in processing, it’s best to start this process as soon as possible. Solarline will help you with your online microFIT application. First, you have to register for the microFIT program at www.microfit.powerauthority.on.ca. When you register, a microFIT page will be created for you on the website and you will be given reference and tracking numbers which will enable you to map your microFIT application’s progress. Once your microFIT application has been submitted, you will have to wait up to 90 days for a conditional offer from the OPA.

Step 3: Select your solar panel system.

While you wait for your conditional offer, you can discuss which solar power system best suits your microFIT needs. Solarline offers the Solaredge single inverter solution with individual panel monitoring, with a choice of solar panels – black monochrome or the standard blue version, wiring, smart meter, a monitoring system and a 2 year workmanship guarantee. Our systems are Ontario compliant and we guarantee our panels with a 90% (10 year) and 80% (25 year) performance power warranty. Once you have selected your solar power system, make sure your roof is in a suitable condition and does not require repair or re-shingling. Why don’t you get a free no obligation online quote now?

Step 4: Organize financing.

Approach your financial institution of choice for financing. Solarline provides financing through TD Bank and will match quotes from competitors.

Step 5: Get building permits and file requests.

Due to the popularity of the microFIT program, some distribution companies have to upgrade before they are able to connect more microFIT solar power systems to the grid.

Step 6: Install your solar power system and connect to the grid.

After receiving an initial 10% deposit, Solarline will install your microFIT solar power system. This process will take 4 – 5 days. Once installed, a safety inspection with the Electrical Safety Authority will ensure that the system is operational and safe. Once this is complete, you can contact your local distributor (your hydro company) and they will hook your solar power system up to the grid. Solarline will help you with the inspections and hook ups.

Step 7: Start earning Sun Money.

Once your solar power system is installed and connected, you will receive your microFIT contract from the OPA online. The next time the sun comes up; you will start earning Sun Money!
